Come Clap for Our Grads

Hello Howard Families,

One of Howard’s greatest traditions has been the clap-out for the grade 6 grads on the last day of school.   This year the Clap out will now be held on Wednesday June 23rd at 5pm in Sorauren Park.

Even if you don’t have a child in grade 6 feel free to join us for this time honoured tradition.

Below is the timeline of events for the 23rd:

  • At 4:50pm the graduates meet at a distance in the Sorauren park town square (next to the field house on Wabash).
  • Parents and families will arrange themselves at a distance along the route.  There is ample room at Sorauren for us all to spread out and have the kids do a couple of loops of the park at 5:00pm while we clap and cheer.
  • We ask that everyone follow public health guidelines currently in place.  No gathering in groups greater than 10 people.  Masks should be worn if you cannot social distance.

Let’s give the Grade 6’s a proper Howard send off!

Quick, Before it’s over!

The 2020/21 school year is almost over, and so is our chance to get next school year off to a good start

Usually, when a school year begins there are funds available to pay for things like booking buses, guest artists and bouncy castles. Usually, these upfront expenses are paid out of reserve funds from the previous school year.

2020/21 has been anything but usual! There aren’t any reserve funds left. That’s why we need people like you to DONATE NOW!

Please follow the link to School Cash Online before June 29th, make a donation and get a charitable tax receipt.

Last Council Meeting Minutes of the Year

Did you miss the last meeting of the year? That’s okay. We made a recording…

Watch or listen to the recording from last night’s school meeting.

Here’s a summary of what was discussed:

Principal’s Update

Esme announced that they are ready for September. However, they expectation is that there will be changes as a result of Toronto Public Health, TDSB and other external decisions over the summer.

Some children may have fallen behind or be struggling as a result of all the online learning. Many efforts are already underway to support these students. Those who wish to discuss their child’s needs, should reach out to their child’s teacher.

School Yard revitalization coming…! Listen to the recording of the meeting for details (timestamp 8:07pm).
