Music Notes from Ms. Jonas

Choir Information 

Permission forms will be available by the end of this week on the bulletin board outside the music room, or you can simply print out Choir Permission Form

We would like to invite interested students to sign up for Choir for the 2019-2020 school year. It is open to students who are in grades 5 or 6. Practices will occur Thursdays at Lunch in the music room. Students will eat in the music room and must pack a lunch. Performances may include a winter concert, a trip to a Raptors 905 game, and, new this year, the festival of music at Canada’s Wonderland which will include a day of fun on the rides in June. There will be a choir focus September-December and a Musical focus January-May.

If you are interested in signing up please return the form to Ms. Jonas by Thursday, September 12. The first day of choir will be Thursday, September 19th, 11:45 in the music room.

The Canadian Music Class Challenge 2019

Howard is participating in CBC’s Canadian Music Class Challenge 2019. It is open to students in grades 4, 5 and 6 who sing, dance, play instruments and compose and are interested in a collaborative effort to create our own arrangement of a Canadian song.

Practices will be on Tuesdays at lunch and will begin on Tuesday, September 17th. To participate, parents will need to sign a video release form for their child.

Permission forms will be handed out at our first information meeting on Tuesday, September 17th at lunch. Please send your child with a packed lunch.

Musical 2019/2020

We have a director and a producer for this school year’s musical! We have ordered perusals for three musicals and will be deciding on our musical for this year within a few months. Auditions for leads will be open to grade 5 and 6 students. Grade fours will be invited to join the chorus and practices will be Thursdays at Lunch. The musical practices will begin in January. Stay tuned for more information!
