Allergy and Anaphlaxis Parent Working Group

Several students in the Howard Community have significant or life-threatening allergies to foods and other substances. Individual families partner with their children’s teachers and the administration to help keep kids healthy and safe.  In addition to this, there is interest in gathering a group or committee to:

– further support the administration in developing policy and protocols to protect children managing allergies and other food sensitivities;

– helping teachers deliver curriculum that help all students gain a better understanding of these health considerations;

– making school events more inclusive for kids with dietary restrictions, perhaps by leveraging a connection to allergen-free treat providers to bring in special baked goods.

If you are the parent/guardian of a child with significant food or environmental allergies (e.g. anaphylaxis, Celiac) and are interested in joining an initial conversation, please email Kate Van de Ven (mom of Milo, gr 2) via katelawrie@gmail.com
