On Tuesday, November 28 at 7p.m, we will be presenting “Parenting Teens for High School” at Fern Ave Public School. The presentation would be delivered by Pine River Institute which has considerable experience working with parents of teens who are in treatment for addiction and mental health issues. We have outcomes evidence that shows that what we teach these parents and caregivers contributes to the success of our graduates. Anecdotally, parents always tell us that they wish they knew what they learned at Pine River before their kids developed addictive behaviours.
Hence we are piloting an initiative to develop and deliver “preventative” presentations and workshops with the premise that the parenting work Pine River does with parents and caregivers while their child is in residential care would be invaluable to any parent with pre-adolescent and adolescent children; and that it may prevent need for intensive treatment down the road.
We would like to welcome parents, caregivers, teachers and anyone else who might be interested in this event, from your school and community to attend this presentation. I have attached a poster and information sheet with more details. If possible, it would be great to send to your parents/caregivers or post electronically for interested parents to see. I would be happy to connect with you and/or your school council to help inform and promote this free workshop to parents in your community.
Thank you,
Amy Locke
