Send-off for Ms. Spademan

Greetings Howard Families and Music Fans,

Ms. Spademan will be retiring this year and leaving us in the fine hands of Ms. Jonas next year.

We are going to celebrate Ms. Spademan’s contributions to our community over the 11 years she has taught at Howard.  At our June 23 year-end assembly there will be a presentation, a special song and slideshow for Wendy.  Please mark your calendars as parents are welcome to attend. It starts at 9:15 am.

We need your help to create this special send off.

Firstly, listen to this clip and get your kids familiar with the chorus. Ms. Jonas, Ms. Fraser, and Ms. Gerskup will be teaching this song to everyone in school but additional practice at home will help.

Secondly, please forward any pictures you have with Ms Spademan to include in the slideshow that will play during the song. Please email images or a link to any shared folder to, no later than June 16.

Lastly, Aileen MacDonald will be collecting money to give Ms Spademan a collective gift from Howard families. Wendy is currently renovating her cottage and the funds will go towards a special something for her retirement home.

Any family wishing to make a contribution to the gift can do so in one of the following ways:
Email an interac transfer to Aileen at and use the password “Spademan” – please include your family and child(s) name in the message, so we can add them to the card.
Bring your donation and sign the card at the Pizza Potluck on June 20th – Aileen will be in attendance accepting donations.
Drop off a donation to Aileen’s house – she is just south of the school at 364 Sunnyside. Please ensure your donation is in a sealed envelope with your family and child(s) name on it, so we can add it to the card.

We look forward to a wonderful celebration for Wendy and thank you in advance for your assistance.
