EARTH DAY @ Howard – this Friday April 21st!

EARTH DAY at Howard is April 21st!

This Friday, we will be celebrating Earth Day at Howard in the following ways:

1:00 – Our Earth Day Parade – students are encouraged to dress in an Earth Day costume (e.g. an animal they want to protect, flowers, trees, a recycling bin), our parade will follow our Halloween parade route and we will be joined by our Eco Mascots: Eco the Earth, Doctor Crunch, Agent Bright and Professor RRR. Parents are welcome to join us on the playground to take pictures!

1:30 – School Yard Clean Up – this year we are competing against other schools in the TDSB. Schools who Tweet pictures of all the trash they collect get entered into a draw to win a Water Bottle Fill Station. All classes will be cleaning the yard and our school neighbourhood. Check out our Tweets at @TDSB_HowardPS

Earth Day Resolutions: Students received a copy of this Earth Day Resolution page to complete at home. Please see the linked pdf if your child does not bring one home. We are asking each child to record a way that they will help the earth this coming year. These resolutions can be brought to school on Friday and can be carried during the parade. We will then post them on our Earth Buddies board in the school.

Monday, April 24th – Seed Planting: some classes will be planting the seeds that they will care for inside the school until late in May, when the seedlings are planted in our Learning Garden.

We look forward to celebrating Earth Day with everyone!

Your Eco-Team and the Earth Buddies
