Bag2School

Bag2School Clothing Recycling:

As part of our Earth Week celebrations, Howard will be holding a textile recycling drive through Bag2School.

The textile industry is the second greatest polluter in the world (after the oil industry) and in North America over 80% of textile waste is still dumped in landfill yet it is almost 100% recyclable. Through Bag2School we aim to educate children and families to change long term behaviours. Textile recycling has been around for many years however the awareness of the issue is only really starting to get serious traction as the proliferation of fast fashion and ‘throw way clothing’ is pressuring our landfills ever more and municipalities are extremely motivated to divert this waste (the City of Toronto has a major initiative underway for 2018!).

Please see the attached flyers for information on how you can donate your old clothing, sheets, handbags and shoes! Help us continue in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and make our world a cleaner place!
