The Grade 6 students will be graduating on Tuesday June 28th in the evening.
Many of our children started together in their primary years, their lives intertwined through the junior years, and they may go different directions next year. To help mark this milestone, a committee of grade 6 parents are organizing a graduation evening dinner and “after party”.
It has been a Howard custom that the grade 5 parents help on the night of the ceremony as many hands are needed and appreciated. It also allows the grade 6 parents a chance to enjoy the moment with our graduates and their friends during the ceremony and the dinner. In addition, it gives the grade 5 parents background that will be helpful when planning the 2017 graduation.
Here is an approximate schedule for the 2016 Graduation:
5:00 – 6:00 pm: Ceremony
6:00 – 6:45pm: Mingle/ Dinner
6:45 – 8:15pm: After Party/ Dance
8:15 – 8:45pm: Clean up
Location: HOWARD SCHOOL GYM
Family members are encouraged to stay after the ceremony to mingle and share in the dinner with the graduates. We are looking into food ideas and will request $12 per person attending to cover the food and entertainment costs. You will be receiving an invitation and RSVP envelope from your child’s grade 6 teacher this week.
The after-party/dance is student-only, although we need chaperones.
Grade 5 Parent Volunteers: Here are the areas we have identified where we need help on the day of the event:
- Decorations (3 volunteers, 2:00 – 4:00pm)
- Set up food tables (8 volunteers, 4:00 – 5:30pm)
- Serving food after ceremony (8 volunteers, 5:30 – 7:00pm)
- Party Chaperones and clean up (10 volunteers, 6:45 – 8:45pm, can be high school students looking to earn volunteer hours)
