Earth Buddies are Back!
Parents and students: our “2013-14 Year in Photos” is now on our club board (next to the gym). See yourself or your child at last year’s earth day events, stone soup, planting or holding worms!
Earth Buddies will meet Wednesdays at lunch in area 25 (Mdme El-Shimy’s class) starting Wednesday, September 24th. This year we are pleased to welcome a new teacher champion to the club: Mdme Desilets.
Our first event is “Stone Soup” – a tradition of harvesting the garden to make soup and tea which is served to classes over a telling of the classic Stone Soup tale. This year it is on Wednesday, October 8th (rain date is October 9th).
Thanks again to all parent volunteers who helped make last year a success! We are in need of parent volunteers again this year. It can be as little as few hours or a day at an event, spear-heading a special project or event, and of course helping the club throughout the year at our weekly meetings (not necessarily all of them). If you’re interested, please contact the parent volunteer (Elise Beauvais) via the club page form https://howardpublicschool.com/club-pages/earth-buddies/.
Stone Soup is October 8th (October 9th rain date), we are looking for 4 volunteers as follows:
- master soup chef 10-1 on the day of
- sous chef/harvest and chop supervisor (as its sharp!) of the earth buddies as they prep 10-1 on the day of
- serving supervisor (as its hot!) of earth buddies 1-3:30 on the day of
- storytellers: anyone interested can either book a part or the whole of the afternoon on the day of – classes come each period (with a break for recess) and the story usually takes up half that time after they’ve settled in with soup
Here’s to another great year of Earth Buddies!
