The Howard Home and School Association (or School Council as it is known in most schools) meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month (except December) at 7pm in the school library. The meetings are a great way to meet other parents, hear updates from our Principal and discuss issues and events that create a better learning environment for Howard students. The Home and School Association works with administration and teachers to promote effective communication within our school community. The Home and School Association determines how our fundraising dollars are spent. In recent years fundraising has provided programs like Scientist in the School, trips to the TSO, and technology for our classrooms. All parents and guardians are welcome at our meetings.
The Home and School Association Executive Committee is typically made up of a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, two Ward 7 Representatives, our Principals and two Teacher Representatives. At the September 17th H&S meeting we will ask for volunteers to fill this year’s fill Executive Committee. These are important roles and vary in terms of time commitment. If you are interested in any of the positions or want more information on what is involved, please email Michelle at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Home and School Association wants to put out a special thanks to several volunteers who will be moving on to new roles this year, including Samantha Schieman (co-chair for the past two years), KC Rogers (arts council chair for the past year), and Ingrid Larsen and Gwen Zuzulka (website and email coordinators).
At Howard, we rely on parent involvement and volunteers for many enrichment programs and events – our fall fete, arts council, sports council, technology council, arts and craft evening and other activities. We will post a blog shortly with more details on the different ways to get involved.
