Thinking Ahead to the Fall Fete 2014

Hello Howard families,

As the summer holidays approach and everyone is looking forward to sun, fun, and relaxation, some of us are already planning the annual October celebration that brings us together as a community. This year’s Fall Fete will take place on Saturday, October 18th, 2014.

The Fall Fete engages our school community in a single-minded pursuit of fun and funds. Last year the Fete raised over $25,000! Where does that money go? To the Howard Home and School Association to pay for things like your child’s field trips, scientist in the classroom, playground equipment, new books and more.

Throughout the summer, please remember that we will be calling on you in the fall to donate used books (for children and adults, French and English) for the used book sale, costumes for our used costume sale, items for the silent auction (artwork, jewellery, sports tickets, etc.), as well as toys, games, arts and craft supplies and many, many other new and gently used items for the fish pond and basket raffles.

The Fall Fete will be looking for over 100 volunteers who have continually made this event such a tremendous success.  Our work will start in early September. Among many other roles, we are looking for someone to coordinate the Trade-Up Table. We are also have a number of volunteers “graduating” next year. If you’d like to learn the ropes, we’ll let you know how you can shadow these expert volunteers.

If you are interested in working on the Fall Fete or want more information on how you can help, please contact Treva Thompson (trevat@gmail.com) or Stacey Kushnir (stacey.kushnir@gmail.com), or use the contact form at the bottom of our volunteer page.

As always, please share your ideas about the Fall Fete, changes or improvements you’d like to see or things you really like and would like to keep the same. The Fall Fete is, above all, an illustration of our school community coming together – something at which Howard excels. We look forward to working with all of you to continue this tradition of success.

Have a safe and happy summer holiday!
