Fall Fete: Saturday October 19th – Volunteers Needed

Hello Howard families,

Welcome back and we hope your summer was fantastic! The start of the school year means that planning for our annual October celebration is in full swing.

Mark your calendars: This year’s Fall Fete will take place on Saturday, October 19th, 2013!

The Fall Fete engages our school community in a single-minded pursuit of fun and funds. Last year the Fete raised over $20,000! This money is used by the Howard Home and School Association to provide funds for your child’s field trips, scientist in the classroom, new books, etc.

The Fall Fete committee is looking for many volunteers who continue to make this event such a tremendous success. It is a great way to connect with the Howard Community, especially for new Howard parents and parents who work outside the home as well as parents of children who take a bus to school.

In particular, we are looking for parents to volunteer in the following roles:

Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator

Volunteer Website Coordinator

Arts & Decorations Coordinator

Bouncy Castle Coordinator

Fish Pond Coordinator

If you are interested in working on the Fall Fete or want more information on the above roles, please contact Treva Thompson (trevat@gmail.com) or Stacey Kushnir (stacey.kushnir@gmail.com) or use the contact form at the bottom of our Fall Fete Page.

Over the next few weeks, please watch for notices via the Howard blog or in your child’s backpack asking for donations of used books (for children and adults, French and English) for the used book sale, costumes for our used costume sale, items for the silent auction (artwork, jewellery, sports tickets, etc.), as well as toys, games, arts and craft supplies and many, many other new and gently used items for the fish pond and basket raffles.

Please do not hesitate to share your ideas about the Fall Fete, changes or improvements you’d like to see or things you really like and would like to keep the same. The Fall Fete is, above all, the exhibition of our school community coming together – something at which the Howard school community excels. We look forward to working with all of you to continue this tradition of success.

Thank you!

Stacey Kushnir and Treva Thompson
