Every year the Coalition for Music Education encourages children across Canada to join in the simultaneous performance of a song. This year the chosen song, “I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing?)” was co-written by Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies and Chris Hadfield, the Canadian commander of the International Space Station.
Howard School will help celebrate Music Monday by singing “ I.S.S.” and several other space related songs on Monday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the gym. We invite parents to come and listen, and even join in singing the song! Look for a video of Chris and Ed singing, as well as MP3 downloads on the website, www.musicmonday.ca. (The Choirs will be singing the SA Choral version.) Children are encouraged to practice at home by singing along with their part or download the piano accompaniment to sing karaoke-style!
Parent volunteers will be needed to help set up risers on Monday, May 6 at 8:15 a.m. and to dismantle them at 3:30 p.m. A videographer would also be great! Please contact Ms. Spademan if you can help.
