Parenting Workshop February 19th 7-9pm

Hello Howard Friends and Families,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you Lee Piepgrass for a Parenting Workshop!
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 19th, in the Howard Library, from 7-9pm.

Lee Piepgrass, who lives in this neighbourhood, has worked for over 30 years as a parent counselor and behaviour consultant at ErinoakKids, Ontario’s largest Provincial Children’s Treatment Centre, with children and young people between the ages of 2 and 19.  She works to support families in such a way that people are treasured, relationships are robust, and everyone knows when to laugh. She has a PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Pittsburgh, and in the intervening years has learned a great deal from the people with whom she has been privileged to work.

The Topic of the Workshop is:
How Did They Get So Big So Fast?
A quick journey through the adventurous terrain of childhood. Stopping at the “number signs:” the 2’s, the 3’s, the 4’s etc, some of the classic landscapes: confronting mortality, developing a conscience, moving into preadolescence, and taking a look at some of the newer vistas: attachment, self regulation, self esteem, and managing the sensory world. The emphasis throughout will be on relationship and connection. Come with a couple of answers in mind to the question: “What are two strengths that I bring to the adventure of parenting? What are two strengths my partner brings?”

Please join us and help to build community, meet a few new neighbours and discuss important matters concerning our kids.

Thank you,
Nicole Johnston (Isla’s mom).
